WEEK 19
As I last mentioned in my last post, Tabergdalens Tennisklubb was to open their outdoor padel court this Wednesday. It was a very nice opening ceremony with DJ, finger foods, cutting of the ribbon, exhibition match, and radio/newspaper reporters. Despite the bad weather, there was also a good show of people — both old and young — interested in testing our beloved sport and asking questions. Since there is a padel explosion going on here in Sweden, similar events are probably happening all over the country, but this particular one was a little closer to my heart…
Let’s rewind to 1995. After 4 years of college bliss filled with tex-mex, sun, tennis and partying in Texas, I decided to follow my boyfriend (now husband) to Jönköping, Sweden. Some people called me brave, but I just called it being young and stupid. Anyhow, I first arrived to a nearly empty apartment with two suitcases of my stuff and it was the coldest winter in 200 years... I didn't know the language, I had no friends, no family, no FaceTime, no job. What left to do other than go to the nearest tennis club? That's where Tabergsdalens Tennisklubb came into the picture. They welcomed me with open arms and took care of me #especiallyacertainmaria.
So, on Wednesday during the opening, I couldn't help but feel warm and fuzzy inside... Maybe that's the reason why I wasn't exactly 100% focused and boasted a ball into the back wall which almost smacked me right in the face #3cmfromepicfail #thankthepadelgods

WEEK 20
Soon, I leave for the US to visit my family for a week which means I'll miss out on an important padel happening on May 20-21 — the Junior Open at Helsingborg Racketklubb. Two of my daughters are playing plus a number of juniors from my home club. I wish I could be there. #sadface Have you parents and juniors out there signed up? Make sure you do before the deadline this Monday, May 15th!
Good luck Gothenburg juniors!
WEEK 21
Looks like the qualifications for the WPT in Barcelona start in 2 weeks. Billie and I are currently on messenger chatting about flights and hotel. #funfunfun
So, that’s a small update on what’s going on with me. I hope you have a great padel week and will be talking to you soon!
